What packaging options do you offer, and which is the most robust?
The practical answer depends on how the goods travel and how they are displayed. H&B Art supplies a standard range of pack-outs and also builds custom packaging, and the right choice is usually a balance between protection in transit and presentation at the point of sale.
Standard packaging options
| Format | Typical use | Robustness |
|---|---|---|
| Nylon bag | Volume programmes, mixed sets, classroom supply | High — flexible, resists impact without denting |
| Canvas bag | Gift positioning, reusable storage | High — reusable, adds perceived value |
| Colour box / paper box | Retail shelf and e-commerce listings | Medium — needs an inner tray for heavier contents |
| PVC box / PVC bag | Display of contents, blister-style presentation | Medium — strong visual, less forgiving when compressed |
| Paper blister | Hanging retail display | Medium — best for lighter sets |
Which format is most robust
For protection alone, the nylon bag is the most forgiving option and is the most popular format we ship. It absorbs impact, does not dent or crack, and adds very little weight or carton cube. Where the package also has to sell the product on a shelf, a colour box or paper box is the standard choice, supported by an internal tray so the contents do not shift.
Choosing by channel
- Wholesale and distribution — nylon bag or canvas bag: lowest cube, highest protection per unit of freight
- Gift and specialty retail — printed tin, colour box or canvas bag, where the package carries part of the price
- E-commerce and marketplace — folding carton with a secure inner tray that survives parcel handling
- School and institutional — stock format with a printed label, so components repack into the same case each term
Custom packaging
Unique structures, printed artwork and inserts are all available. Custom packaging is quoted against the artwork and the order quantity, and a physical sample is issued for approval before production. Because tooling and artwork approval sit on the critical path, custom packaging should be specified at the same time as the product, not after it.
